Greater Noida West: There is no decrease in Lift incidents and are gradually increasing day by day. Among NCR they are happening maximum in Noida, Greater Noida West. The latest incident has come to light in Cherry County Society, where the lift got stuck, leading to panic.
Know What Happened
On October 21, 2024, Four people including an elderly woman were stuck in the lift for 20 minutes. They tried pressing the alarm bell, but nothing worked. Panicked family shouted for help then the security personnel and other residents reached the spot. By opening the lift, people somehow got out. The residents are badly scared after this incident.
A well-maintained society’s lift alarm was not working
Cherry County is the most hyped society of Greater Noida West, which never had any such issue or news yet. The trapped people allege that what is the use of paying the highest maintenance and we were so sure that we will never face anything ever. They say, “We tried to ring the emergency alarm several times, but the alarm was not working. After multiple efforts, we all shouted.
Negligence of the maintenance department
Residents allege that every day there are cases of lift accidents. Due to such accidents, people have even lost their lives. The maintenance department team does not work properly. People die due to their carelessness. If any accident happens, it is directly the responsibility of the maintenance department and the builder.
Bill will be presented in the assembly soon
The draft for the Lifts Act will be presented in the winter session of the Assembly. Registration will be necessary before installing a lift in a multi-storey building. One will have to register with the Electrical Safety Directorate. After the lift is installed, the directorate’s team will conduct a safety audit. After this, Lift will be allowed to be used.
