llegal swimming pools in Greater Noida’s flood zone, betting on death for just 50 rupees

Noida: The increasing number of illegal swimming pools in the flood zone of the Yamuna River has rung alarm bells for the residents. There is no arrangement of lifeguards at these pools and despite this commercial activities are going on here. Children are being taught to swim in swimming pools by charging a fee of 50 to 60 rupees per hour. Whereas they have not even been registered.

Swimming pools not sealed

The operators of these illegal swimming pools have taken advantage of the negligence of the local sports department. In an investigation conducted by the Sports Department on August 31, 2024, it was found that these pools have no registration nor have they been approved by the government. The department only imposed fines and instead of sealing the swimming pools, left them open. Due to this, there is a lack of any kind of monitoring by the Sports Department in these pools.

No arrangement for a lifeguard

The depth of swimming pools is 5 to 7 feet and no steps have been taken regarding the absence of lifeguards here. Due to this negligence, a major accident can happen any time. Residents and security experts have taken this situation seriously and have demanded immediate action. This silence and negligence of the officials indicates that negligence is being shown in making the swimming pool operators follow the rules and safety standards.
