How to Get an Indian Driving License
Before applying for a driving license in India, one must note the eligibility criteria. The applicant must be under the age of 18 years for geared two-wheelers and private cars. For a commercial vehicle license, the minimum age criteria is 20 years.
Steps to Apply
- Visit at Parivahan.gov.in website
- Appear for a basic test on traffic rules and signs
- Valid for 6 months; eligible for permanent license after 30 days.
Step 2: Apply for a Permanent Driving License
- Book a slot online through Parivahan or visit your local RTO.
- Appear for a practical driving test.
- If you pass, the license is sent to your registered address or can be downloaded digitally.

How to Get an International Driving Permit (IDP) from India

- No driving test required
