Noida : As Holi approaches, city markets are buzzing with colour, water guns and festive excitement. This year, a new range of high-pressure Dhurandhar pichkaris has become the main attraction, promising children a more powerful and fun-filled Holi celebration.
Dhurandhar pichkaris in high demand
Shopkeepers say the demand for heavy-duty and rapid-fire style pichkaris has increased significantly. The Dhurandhar models, designed to spray water at high pressure and longer distances, are especially popular among children. These pichkaris are priced between ₹200 and ₹250, depending on size and design. Traders say the attractive designs and strong water flow are drawing more buyers this season. Apart from traditional water guns, rapid-fire tank guns inspired by social media reels are also trending. Many children are asking specifically for these models after watching viral videos online.

Work started two months in advance
Vendors revealed that preparations for Holi began nearly two months ago. Manufacturing and stocking started early to meet the expected demand. According to traders, around 200 to 250 pieces are being sold daily in busy markets. Retailers are hopeful that sales will rise further as Holi comes closer.
Children are now looking for bigger and more stylish water guns instead of simple plastic pichkaris.

Colours, toys and accessories add to the festive mood
Along with pichkaris, shops are stocked with colourful gulal packets, cartoon-themed water guns and festive accessories. Prices of toys and water guns vary between ₹150 and ₹300, depending on size and brand. Markets are brightly decorated, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere that is attracting families in large numbers.

Shift towards safer colours
There is also increasing awareness about skin-friendly and herbal colours. Many buyers are asking for chemical-free gulal to avoid skin irritation and allergies.
Eco-friendly colours are seeing steady demand, especially from parents concerned about children’s safety.
