Historic Supreme Court Ruling on Stray Dogs Welcomed by DDRWF Federation

Gautam Buddh Nagar: The DDRWF (Delhi Development Resident Welfare Federation) has welcomed the recent landmark judgment by the Hon’ble Supreme Court allowing the immediate removal of stray dogs from public places such as hospitals, educational institutions, bus stands, railway stations, metro stations and other crowded areas.

Reports from Noida frequently highlight incidents where patients visiting government hospitals for medical treatment have been bitten by stray dogs. These vulnerable individuals, often seeking treatment for illnesses like fever or other conditions, are forced to undergo additional treatment due to dog bites.

The Supreme Court’s order is being widely appreciated as it mandates the removal of stray dogs from schools, hospitals and other public spaces, providing relief and a sense of security to citizens.

However, this ruling has sparked opposition from certain groups, including prominent figures like Maneka Gandhi and her sister, who have expressed their displeasure and staged protests against the decision. Dog lovers across Delhi have also been seen demonstrating their dissent in various areas.

Responding to the protests, DDRWF Federation emphasised that those who have a strong attachment to stray dogs should take full responsibility for their care and accommodate them in their homes, rather than opposing measures meant to protect public safety.

The citizens of the city have welcomed the Supreme Court’s order, considering it a much-needed relief for the safety and well-being of the general public.
