Greater Noida: In a chilling incident that has left residents of Greater Noida West shocked, a man was brutally attacked and had his nose severed following a dispute over a barking dog. The incident occurred in the village nearby Bisrakh area on Tuesday night and has raised serious concerns about the rising tensions and lack of effective conflict resolution in urban neighbourhoods.

The Spark: A Dog’s Bark and a Scolding

The chain of violence began when Devendra, son of Sukhbir Singh, was dancing at their home as part of a casual celebration. Suddenly, a neighbour’s pet dog entered his premises and began barking continuously. Irritated by the disturbance, Devendra scolded the dog and shooed it away.

This seemingly minor incident turned dangerously violent moments later

Retaliation Turns Brutal

According to the FIR filed with Bisrakh Police, the dog’s owner, Satish, took serious offence at Devendra’s scolding of the pet. Enraged, Satish, along with his brother Amit and son Tushar, barged into Devendra’s house. Eyewitnesses claim the trio began beating Devendra mercilessly.

What followed next has left the community horrified

One of the accused allegedly took out a sharp weapon and sliced off Devendra’s nose in the assault. Bloodied and writhing in pain, Devendra collapsed as cries rang through the neighborhood.

Wife Also Attacked

Hearing the commotion, Devendra’s wife rushed to intervene and shield her husband. However, she too was not spared and was physically assaulted by the attackers. Locals who gathered at the scene managed to separate the parties and call for medical help. Devendra was immediately taken to a hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors confirmed the disfigurement of his nose and stated that plastic surgery would be required to reconstruct the injured area.

Police Action and Investigation

Following the complaint, Bisrakh Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for causing grievous hurt, criminal trespass, and assault. All three accused have been named in the FIR. As of Wednesday evening, no arrests had been made, though police stated that an investigation is underway and strict action would be taken.

This is a severe and barbaric attack. We are verifying the CCTV footage from the area and collecting witness statements. No one will be spared.

Wider Pattern of Violence Over Dogs

Interestingly, this is not an isolated case. Just weeks earlier, a man in Greater Noida was caught on camera dragging a German Shepherd behind his car for nearly 3 km, reportedly angered by the dog barking at his child. In another case in Ghaziabad’s Agarola village, a man fired shots during a similar dispute over a dog, although no casualties were reported.

Animal welfare groups and civic bodies have repeatedly called for better awareness and regulations to prevent such volatile situations from escalating.

Residents React

Residents of the neighbourhood are stunned.

We have never seen such cruelty here. All this over a barking dog? How can someone lose their nose over a simple argument ?

Shopkeeper

The Resident Welfare Association (RWA) has demanded immediate arrests and a review of pet-keeping norms to avoid such altercations in the future.

The incident is still under investigation. The identities of those involved have been partially withheld in the interest of privacy and legal process.
