Noida: Under the strong leadership of Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh and the initiative of ACP-3 Noida Twinkle Jain, a special awareness program was organized on July 19, 2025, at the Government Girls Inter College, Hoshiarpur, Sector 51, Noida. The program aimed to educate schoolgirls and adolescent girls from both rural and urban backgrounds about crimes against women, the safe use of social media, cybercrime threats, women’s helpline numbers, and key legal rights that empower and protect them.
ACP Twinkle Jain conducted an interactive and inspiring session, sensitizing the girls on how to recognize and report crimes against women, both online and offline. She emphasized the importance of self-awareness, presence of mind, and knowing where to seek help. Her approachable and clear communication style left a strong impact on the students, helping them understand complex legal and safety issues in a relatable manner.
A special focus was placed on safe usage of social media, as today’s youth spends considerable time online. The students were advised to avoid sharing personal information, such as phone numbers, addresses, or daily routines, publicly. They were also advised to keep their privacy settings on platforms like Instagram and Facebook set to “Friends Only,” avoid accepting friend requests from strangers, and report any suspicious or threatening messages immediately. The dangers of oversharing, digital footprints, and the psychological impact of social media were also discussed in detail.
The session also covered cybercrime awareness, educating the girls about common online threats such as cyberbullying, identity theft, online stalking, and frauds like phishing and fake job offers. The students were taught how to identify red flags, avoid clicking on unknown links or downloading suspicious files, and report cybercrimes through government portals like cybercrime.gov.in. They were encouraged to speak up without fear if they ever encountered inappropriate behavior online.
Representing Nari Pragati Social Foundation, the event featured key speakers including Meenakshi Garg, Career Counsellor; Kirti Tyagi, Life Skills Trainer and Counsellor; and Anuradha Bakshi, Advocate. Each speaker offered practical guidance on building confidence, making informed career decisions, and understanding their legal rights and responsibilities as young women.
The school’s principal, Deepa Bhati, played a pivotal role in coordinating the event and has consistently supported initiatives that promote the holistic development of girl students.
The program’s success was made possible by the active support of SHO Mr. Anuj Kumar and his police team, along with the committed efforts of Nari Pragati Social Foundation’s founder, Meenakshi Tyagi, Director Vanita Bhatt, and team members — Neeru Bhan, Archana Gupta, Alka Verma, and Akanksha Srivastava.
This initiative not only equipped the students with knowledge but also empowered them to navigate the digital and real world with confidence, caution, and courage.
