Noida: Conrwa, the oldest federation of Nodia has written a letter to the Noida Authority informing them about the waterlogging issues of the high-tech city of Noida.
Drains are never cleaned pre-monsoon
PS Jain, President, Conrwa writes, “Water logging happened in different areas of the city in the pre-monsoon rains itself. Because the drains have not been cleaned yet. Monsoon season will come, every year it is said that we will complete the cleaning of all the drains of the city before monsoon but this does not actually happen.“
Waterlogging and no clean drains
He continues, “Because the tender for cleaning of drains is issued at the beginning of monsoon season due to which the work of cleaning of drains is not completed on time. There is a lot of dirt at the point connecting the drains to the big drains, it should be cleaned from time to time but this does not happen. And in the monsoon season, the slit that comes out after cleaning the drains and sewers is not picked up. It remains there for 1-2 days and when it rains again, it goes back into the drains.”
No roster for any public-related works
The authority does not have any roster for any such public-related works, which shows what work is to be done when, and due to the lack of planned schedule, no action has been taken till now. A roster should be prepared for all these works and action should be taken on time so that there is no delay in cleaning the drains and sewers like every year and the problem of water logging is not faced. The authority claims every year that the drains will be cleaned by machines before the rains, but in reality, it does not happen and the tender money is wasted.
Almost all sectors suffer from water logging every year
Waterlogging occurs every year in many sectors like 19,27,11,12,18,20,22,26,28,33,34,36,37,55,57,62,63,65,66,67,125 and mostly in underpasses. One reason for this is that the slope of the drains is not correct and the drains are blocked because there is encroachment on the drains, for which the authority has been informed for many years. But no attention is paid to this. Due to this, the people of the city have to face waterlogging in many areas. And till now no work has been done on a permanent solution.
Severs are overflown in reverse
Due to a lack of sewer drainage during rains, the sewers overflow due to reverse flow. Therefore, these should also be cleaned. Every year only orders are given but the work on the ground is not completed.
