Noida: The Confederation of NCR Resident Welfare Association (CONRWA) sent a letter to the Noida Development Authority drawing attention to the dangers posed by the excessive height of trees in the residential areas of the city.

The old and tall trees broke down in the recent storms and hurricanes, causing injuries to citizens, disruption of power supply, and traffic jams.

P S Jain, President, CONRWA

The letter mentions that trees 35 to 40 feet high are not only posing a risk, but their leaves being at a very high height are also reducing the benefit of shade and oxygen.

CONRWA suggests that the maximum height of trees in residential areas should be up to 20-25 feet and they should be pruned (cutting and trimming) from time to time to give them a beautiful umbrella shape. This will not only enhance the beauty of the city but will also help in controlling pollution.

The organization has also demanded that if there are any existing policies or rules for controlling the height of trees, they should be made public. If there are no such rules or there is a need for updating, then a competent authorized committee should consider it and issue necessary guidelines.

CONRWA has expressed hope that the Noida Authority will seriously consider this matter and take necessary steps so that the city remains safe, clean and beautiful.
