Greater Noida West : The holy festival of Chhath Poojan, dedicated to worshipping the Sun God (Surya Bhagwan) and Chhathi Maiya, was observed with deep devotion and traditional fervour on Tuesday. Thousands of devotees gathered at ghats, artificial ponds, and riverbanks to offer Arghya during sunrise and sunset, marking the culmination of the four-day ritual.
The celebration witnessed beautifully decorated ghats, enhanced security arrangements and continuous cleanliness drives by local authorities. Volunteers, RWAs and social organisations coordinated installations of lighting, barricading, and water-level monitoring to ensure smooth conduct of the rituals.
Women fasters (Vratis), after observing 36 hours of strict nirjala (waterless) fast, offered prayers seeking prosperity, good health, and well-being of their families. Traditional thekua, fruits and sugarcane adorned bamboo baskets as offerings.
Despite dense gatherings, the event remained orderly with police deployment, medical teams on standby, and rescue personnel patrolling water bodies. Cultural performances and devotional songs added to the festive atmosphere.
Chhath, known for its emphasis on purity, discipline, and environmental harmony, continues to strengthen community bonds and preserve ancient cultural heritage. Authorities thanked the residents for their cooperation and appealed to maintain cleanliness around water bodies even after the festivities conclude.
