A third-round matchup with No. 29 Frances Tiafoe is scheduled after the American defeated Borna Coric 7-6 (5), 6-1, 6-3. The defending champion Carlos Alcaraz lost 6-5 in the opening set but recovered to defeat Alexsander Vukic 7-6 (5), 6-2, 6-2.
The 21-year-old Spanish player grinned and declared, “I’m going for him,” in response to the on-court interviewer informing him that Tiafoe had stated he was “coming after you.”

At the All England Club on Wednesday, Gauff defeated qualifier Anca Todoni 6-2, 6-1 to go to the third round.

“Yeah, I’m really passionate about what I do, but it’s never that serious, and sometimes it feels like there’s so much pressure and expectation in the world,” the woman added. “It’s just a game at the end of the day.” It’s athletics.
Romanian-born Todoni, 19, was participating in her first Grand Slam event.
“There were times when I felt like I could have played more cleanly,” Gauff said.
On her Grand Slam debut, five years prior, Gauff defeated Williams, a five-time Wimbledon champion, 6-4, 6-4 in the opening round before making it to the round of sixteen.
About their 2022 semifinal match, which Alcaraz won at Flushing Meadows, the No. 3 seed remarked, “We played a really good match in the U.S. Open.”
Other results: Danielle Collins, ranked eleventh, defeated Clara Tauson 6-3, 7-6 (4) to finish her first-round match. In the second set on Tuesday night, it had been suspended at 4–4.

Emma Navarro of the United States defeated Naomi Osaka in the second round at Wimbledon on Wednesday, giving up just five games to the Japanese player in an overwhelming victory.
In less than an hour, Osaka, who was participating in her first Wimbledon since 2019, lost 6-4, 6-1 on Centre Court.
Before 17th-ranked Navarro broke out of their love triangle and won the opening set, the two players were equal at 3-3.
At the beginning of the second set, Navarro raced ahead, breaking twice to take a 4-0 lead and breaking once more to secure the victory.
Osaka won her first match at Wimbledon since 2018 when she defeated Diane Parry in the opening round.
After giving birth to her daughter Shai last year, the 26-year-old, four-time Grand Slam champion, only rejoined the tour in January, placing him at 113 after five years.
