Jewar : Noida International Airport is set to undergo calibration flight testing by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday and Friday. During the trials, a special aircraft will conduct landing and take-off operations to verify the accuracy and reliability of the airport’s navigation and communication systems. The DGCA aircraft is expected to remain airborne for nearly two hours on both days.
Technical teams from DGCA and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) will assess critical systems including the Instrument Landing System (ILS), Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VOR), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) and Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems. This mandatory testing is an essential requirement for obtaining the aerodrome licence before commencing commercial flight operations.
Aircraft landed earlier in december
In December 2024, an IndiGo Airbus A320 made the first successful landing on the airport’s runway, during which preliminary checks of ILS and other equipment were conducted. This time, officials expect a comprehensive evaluation of all operational systems.
Terminal trials also successful
The airport infrastructure is nearing completion. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has already granted necessary security clearances, CISF deployment is in place, and terminal trials covering passenger entry, check-in, security screening, boarding and baggage handling were successfully completed recently.
Commercial ops soon
Calibration testing will pave the way for the aerodrome licence. Following this, trial operations and then commercial flight services will commence.
