Greater Noida: With the monsoon intensifying, the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) of Greater Noida’s Beta 1 sector has appealed to residents to ensure that the water drains outside their homes remain open to prevent waterlogging.
Beta 1 RWA General Secretary Harindra Bhati said several homeowners have either covered the drainage channels outside their houses or blocked them by constructing ramps over them. According to him, this prevents rainwater from flowing into the drainage network during heavy showers.
He explained that when rainwater from nearly 15 to 20 internal lanes fails to drain properly, it eventually accumulates on the 24-metre-wide main road of the sector, leading to severe waterlogging and inconvenience for residents and commuters.
Bhati has requested all residents to voluntarily remove obstructions and reopen the drains in front of their homes before the next spell of heavy rainfall. He said that community cooperation is essential for maintaining proper drainage and avoiding flooding during the monsoon season.
The RWA has urged residents to act promptly, stating that collective participation can significantly reduce waterlogging and help keep the sector’s roads safe and accessible during rains.
