Noida / Ayodhya: Ayodhya is once again poised to captivate the world with its faith, culture, and heritage. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the 9th edition of Deepotsav 2025 is shaping up to be the most spectacular and historic celebration to date.

On the banks of the Saryu River, 28 lakh earthen lamps (diyas) will be arranged across 56 ghats and around 26 lakh diyas will be lit simultaneously, setting a new Guinness World Record. For the first time, Lakshman Qila Ghat will be part of the celebration, glowing with over 4.25 lakh lamps.

A global symbol of faith and culture

Deepotsav is more than a religious festival. It’s a vibrant showcase of India’s Sanatan culture, spirituality, and the ideal of universal brotherhood. Under CM Yogi’s vision, the event aims to establish Ayodhya as a global hub for religious tourism. Millions of devotees and tourists from across India and abroad are expected to witness the divine glow. Chief Minister Adityanath will personally light the ceremonial lamp, filling the city with chants of Jai Shri Ram.

Sea of Lamps: Major highlights

Ram Ki Paidi – The main attraction with 15–16 lakh diyas illuminating the entire stretch
Bhajan Sandhya Ghat – 5.5 lakh diyas creating a mesmerizing glow
Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat – 4.5 lakh diyas lighting up the banks
Lakshman Qila Ghat – Making its debut with 4.25 lakh diyas

Breaking previous records

Ayodhya’s Deepotsav already holds a Guinness World Record, but this year, the target is to surpass it by lighting 28 lakh lamps. To make it possible, 22 committees including coordination, security, cleanliness, traffic, cultural and volunteer management, are working round the clock under the direction of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University’s nodal officer Prof. Sant Sharan Mishra.
