Airport: There is good news for lakhs of residents in Delhi-NCR. In the near future, fast and convenient travel between Ghaziabad and the Noida International Airport in Jewar via the Namo Bharat train could become a reality. The proposed Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat corridor has now reached the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage.
Spanning approximately 72.44 kilometers, this corridor will provide connectivity to Noida International Airport, linking Ghaziabad with Noida, Greater Noida, Noida West, Pari Chowk, and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area.
Travel from Ghaziabad to Noida Airport set to become faster.
The proposed Namo Bharat corridor will originate in Ghaziabad and subsequently pass through key areas of Noida and Greater Noida.
The corridor is also expected to provide improved public transport facilities to rapidly developing residential and commercial areas, such as Noida West and Pari Chowk.
The final station of the route will be the Noida International Airport at Jewar. Once the corridor becomes operational, reaching the airport from Ghaziabad and surrounding areas will become easier and faster.
Namo Bharat Corridor to span 72.44 kilometers
The proposed Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat Corridor will have a total length of approximately 72.44 kilometers.
According to Shalabh Goel, Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the project is currently in the stage of preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The DPR will involve a comprehensive study of various aspects of the project, including the corridor’s route, stations, passenger ridership, construction costs, and technical requirements.
12 Stations to be Built on the Corridor
A total of 12 stations are planned for the proposed Namo Bharat corridor.
Additionally, two depots will be constructed at the northern and southern ends of the corridor.
These depots will be used for the maintenance, operation, and technical servicing of Namo Bharat trains.
The project’s infrastructure is being planned to easily accommodate future growth in passenger numbers.
Cost could exceed ₹20,000 crore
The estimated cost of the Ghaziabad-Jewar Namo Bharat corridor is reported to be around ₹20,640 crore.
Once the project receives approval and construction is completed, it will be the fourth Namo Bharat corridor in the Delhi-NCR region.
Connectivity to Noida International Airport to be Strengthened
The launch of the Namo Bharat corridor will enhance public transport accessibility to Noida International Airport.
Commuters residing in Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and surrounding areas will gain a fast and convenient option to reach the airport.
Additionally, the proposed corridor could play a significant role in easing road traffic congestion in Delhi-NCR and promoting the use of public transport.
