Greater Noida West: Panic gripped residents of Aims Green Avenue Society in Sector 4 after a lift fell straight from the 6th floor to the basement on Monday evening, leaving two people injured and sparking massive outrage among residents.
According to reports, the lift malfunctioned twice on the same day. In the first incident, the lift plunged from the 12th floor and came to a sudden halt on the 5th. Later that night, it fell again, this time from the 6th floor directly to the basement. One resident sustained a torn toenail and a hand injury, while another also suffered trauma to the hand.

The accident triggered a protest by residents, who alleged gross negligence on the part of the society’s management.
We have complained multiple times about the lift being faulty, but no one has taken it seriously," said a resident.
Shockingly, although four lifts have been installed in the tower, only one is operational. Residents are forced to wait for long periods or use a malfunctioning lift, putting lives at risk. Many families, including those with children and elderly people, rely on this lift daily.
The society is also battling another problem, a water crisis. Residents say the water motor has been faulty for days, leaving them without a regular supply of water.
On Monday night, after the second lift fall, angry residents gathered to protest. Police reached the spot, and an elevator mechanic had to be called to open the lift doors safely.
"There’s no technical staff available in emergencies. Every time something goes wrong, we’re left on our own," a resident said.
People are now demanding that the builder and maintenance team be held accountable and that urgent steps be taken to prevent such life-threatening incidents in the future.
