Greater Noida : The Active Citizen Team submitted a memorandum to the Greater Noida Authority demanding that the proposed plot allocation scheme be used for building government hospitals instead of private ones. The memorandum highlights the growing disparity between the number of government and private hospitals in Gautam Buddh Nagar and the resulting impact on the common man.

The team pointed out that the region has a significant shortage of government hospitals compared to private ones. Due to the high treatment costs at private hospitals, a large section of society is unable to afford quality healthcare. As a result, many are left with no options for treatment, leading to suffering and distress among the general public.

The memorandum raises the following key points for consideration:

  1. Plot Scheme for Private Hospitals: The Greater Noida Authority has issued a bidding scheme for four plots, designated for the construction of private hospitals.
  2. High Costs Due to Bidding: These plots are expected to be sold at high rates through bidding, which will result in increased healthcare costs for the public.
  3. Need for Government Hospitals: When the number of private hospitals already far exceeds that of government hospitals, why shouldn’t these new plots be used for building public healthcare facilities?
  4. Direct Operation Model: Instead of selling the plots, the Authority could build hospitals on them and hand over operations to suitable institutions. This would significantly reduce the cost burden on patients.
  5. Sustainable Revenue Source: These hospitals could also serve as a source of revenue for the Authority, which could be reinvested into citizen welfare.

Key individuals present during the submission of the memorandum included Manjeet Singh, Sadhana Sinha, Harendra Bhati, Alok Singh, Anil Kasana, Ramesh Premchandani, and Ashish Sharma.
