AAP Decides To Go Solo In Maharashtra Assembly Polls, Denies Possibility Of Alliance With MVA

The Aam Aadmi Party refuted rumours that it will forge an electoral alliance with the Maha Vikas Aghadi and announced on Monday that it would run an independent campaign in the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Leader of the AAP Preeti Sharma Menon declared on Monday that the party will run candidates for all 36 Mumbai seats in the Maharashtra assembly elections.

She added that the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP was a member of the opposition INDI coalition during a news conference held here, adding that “the alliance was for the Lok Sabha polls and will continue to be together at the national level.”

In Mumbai, the AAP will run for all 36 seats. Menon stated, “Our colleagues and volunteers throughout the rest of Maharashtra are highly motivated, and preparations are underway.”

She said that the AAP is a national party that, under the inspiring leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, sprang out of a people’s movement and is currently in charge in Delhi and Punjab. It also has MPs and MLAs in Gujarat and Goa.

She said that in under ten years, the AAP had exemplified the “Delhi model” of growth, which provides free, high-quality water, power, healthcare, and education to everyone—all without corruption or debt.

“The Aam Aadmi Party’s clean politics and new political culture are the reason Punjab and Delhi can deliver.” She said, “The current government, led by the BJP and the Shinde Sena, is convinced they won’t win back to power and has no political will for the welfare of the public. Instead, they are deeply involved in widespread corruption.”

She claimed that the Eknath Shinde government is too preoccupied with stealing the exchequer to devote time to public welfare, while the BJP is an anti-Mumbai and anti-Maharashtra party.
