Hyundai Motor India on Monday, October 26, launched the Hyundai Bayon in India at an introductory starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned between the Venue and the Creta in the company’s SUV portfolio, the new model combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a technology-focused cabin, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a range of premium features.
The Bayon is aimed at buyers looking for a feature-rich SUV with a conventional petrol powertrain and an automatic transmission option. It will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT). The carmaker has also confirmed plans to introduce a factory-fitted CNG option in January 2027.
The SUV’s key highlights include dual 12.3-inch displays, a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered voice assistant, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and Level 2 Pro ADAS. Hyundai has also equipped the vehicle with connected-car technology and over-the-air software updates.
“Manufactured in India, Hyundai Bayon will also be exported to more than 50 markets globally, reinforcing India’s growing role as a strategic manufacturing and export hub for Hyundai,” said Tarun Garg, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India.
Hyundai Bayon Price In India: Check Variants
The Hyundai Bayon starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is offered in seven variants: HX2, HX3, HX3 Plus, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10.
The entry-level HX2 is available with a manual gearbox, while automatic transmission options are offered in higher variants. The company has not yet disclosed the complete variant-wise price list.
| Hyundai Bayon Variant | Transmission Options |
|---|---|
| HX2 | Manual |
| HX3 | Manual |
| HX3 Plus | Manual |
| HX5 | Manual, iVT |
| HX6 | Manual, iVT |
| HX8 | Manual, iVT |
| HX10 | Manual, iVT |
Note: Transmission availability and final prices should be confirmed against Hyundai’s official variant-wise price list.
The Bayon’s introductory price places it in competition with several SUVs in the Indian market, including the Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor. It will also appeal to buyers considering higher variants of smaller SUVs.
Hyundai Bayon Engine, Power And Mileage
The Hyundai Bayon is powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MPi petrol engine that develops 115 PS of maximum power and 143.8 Nm of peak torque.
The engine is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an Intelligent Variable Transmission automatic gearbox. Hyundai has opted for a naturally aspirated petrol engine rather than a turbo-petrol or diesel powertrain.
The automatic version comes with additional driving technologies, including Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech, designed to improve responsiveness during acceleration and overtaking. Paddle shifters allow drivers to exercise greater control over transmission response.
The SUV offers three drive modes — Eco, Normal and Sport. While Eco mode prioritises efficiency, Normal mode is designed for everyday driving and Sport mode provides a more responsive driving experience.
The claimed fuel efficiency of the petrol automatic version is 18.6 kmpl. Actual mileage will depend on traffic conditions, driving style and other factors.
Hyundai plans to introduce a CNG version of the Bayon in January 2027. The company has not announced a turbo-petrol or diesel option for the SUV.
Hyundai Bayon Features: Dual Screens, AI Assistant, Sunroof
Technology is one of the key selling points of the Hyundai Bayon. The SUV gets two 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays, with one serving as the digital instrument cluster and the other handling infotainment functions.
The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the cabin’s feature list includes a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat and a panoramic sunroof, depending on the variant.
Other features include rear AC vents, USB Type-C charging ports, adjustable rear headrests and two-step reclining rear seats. Higher variants also offer an eight-speaker Bose sound system.
The SUV’s digital interface is supported by Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, which uses NVIDIA technology. It offers connected navigation, split-screen functionality and personalised controls.
Another major highlight is Hyundai Motor India’s first generative AI voice assistant, developed using intelligence from Perplexity and voice technology from SoundHound AI.
Unlike conventional voice assistants that primarily respond to predefined commands, the system is designed to understand conversational requests. Drivers can use it to seek weather updates, plan road trips, find hotels and restaurants, and access other information while travelling.
The SUV also features more than 70 Hyundai Bluelink connected-car functions and supports over-the-air software updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers. Its interface supports 10 regional and two international languages, while more than 500 embedded voice commands are available in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu.
Hyundai Bayon Safety Features: Level 2 ADAS, Six Airbags
The Hyundai Bayon comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and rear parking sensors as standard.
Hyundai says the SUV offers more than 35 standard safety features across its variants. Its structure incorporates advanced high-strength steel, with the company stating that the vehicle has been engineered to meet five-star Indian crash-test safety standards.
However, a five-star Bharat NCAP rating should not be assumed until an official crash-test result is available.
Higher variants receive Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS, which includes 23 driver-assistance functions. The system is designed to support drivers through features such as forward collision warning and avoidance assistance, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and highway driving assistance.
Additional equipment includes a 360-degree surround-view camera, a blind-spot view monitor, all-wheel disc brakes and an electronic parking brake with auto hold, depending on the variant.
The availability of advanced safety and convenience features varies across the range, making the variant selection important for buyers seeking a fully equipped SUV.
Hyundai Bayon Design And Dimensions
The Bayon adopts Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language, with a sculpted bonnet, distinctive LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, prominent wheel-arch cladding and roof rails.
Its side profile features sharp character lines and alloy wheels, while the rear gets LED tail-lamps, a roof spoiler and a dual-tone bumper.
The SUV measures 4,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height, including the roof rails. It has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and ground clearance of 205 mm.
The Bayon offers a claimed boot capacity of 505 litres, giving it a practical luggage compartment for everyday use and longer journeys.
Hyundai will offer the SUV in 10 exterior colour options, including monotone, dual-tone and matte finishes. These include Atlas White, Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey, alongside selected black-roof and matte combinations.

Deliveries are scheduled to commence during the festive season, with customers advised to check with dealerships for the latest delivery timelines and variant availability.
With its 1.5-litre petrol engine, manual and automatic gearbox options, dual-screen cabin, connected technology and Level 2 ADAS, the Bayon expands Hyundai’s SUV portfolio below the Creta.
