GREATER NOIDA WEST: Residents of several housing societies in Greater Noida West came together for a cleanliness and plantation drive, planting 1,135 saplings and flowering plants as part of a community initiative to improve the area’s environment and address concerns related to cleanliness and sanitation.
Residents from Nirala Estate, Neotown, LA Residentia and Spring Meadows participated in the drive. The initiative included both cleanliness activities and plantation work, with residents using brooms and other equipment to clean areas that required attention. According to the residents, 215 trees and 920 flowering plants were planted during the drive, taking the total number of plants added to 1,135.
Residents take up civic responsibility
The initiative comes amid concerns raised by residents over sanitation and cleanliness in parts of Greater Noida West. Through the campaign, residents sought to supplement civic efforts by taking direct responsibility for maintaining and improving their surroundings. The plantation drive also aimed to encourage greater community participation in environmental activities and create awareness about the importance of maintaining green spaces. Residents said such initiatives can help improve the local environment while also keeping civic concerns in focus.
More drives planned
The participating residents have decided to continue organising cleanliness and plantation activities in the area. Another community drive is planned around Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Residents said regular participation from housing societies could help sustain cleanliness efforts and increase green cover across Greater Noida West. The initiative reflects growing participation by residents’ groups in civic and environmental activities, particularly around issues such as sanitation, waste management and maintenance of common spaces.
