Noida: The Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Associations (NOFAA) has urged Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner Lakmi Singh, IPS, to intervene in what it described as deteriorating security, safety and traffic conditions in F-Block, Sector 50, Noida. In a representation addressed to the Police Commissioner, NOFAA founder Rajiva Singh highlighted concerns over unauthorised parking, traffic congestion, public drinking and alleged incidents of street crime and harassment along the road stretch behind Central 50 Mall.
The affected stretch is located near several residential societies, including Mahagun Maestro, Meghdutam Apartments, Metro Apartments, Omaxe Twin Towers and Mahagun Maple. According to the representation, residents had raised concerns about the area even during the construction phase of Central 50 Mall. However, NOFAA said the situation has worsened following the mall’s completion and opening.
Concerns over unauthorised parking
NOFAA alleged that unrestricted and unauthorised parking behind the mall has severely affected traffic movement on the road. The federation said the situation becomes particularly problematic during weekends when the area witnesses increased activity. The organisation has sought strict enforcement measures, including towing, challaning and barricading, to prevent unauthorised parking and ensure smooth movement of traffic.
Allegations of public drinking
The representation also raised concerns about people allegedly consuming alcohol inside parked vehicles in the area. NOFAA said such activity could affect public order and create concerns for residents living in the surrounding residential societies.
The federation has requested strict checks and monitoring of liquor sales and consumption around the mall premises, particularly considering the area’s proximity to residential communities and schools.
Street crime and women’s safety
The representation further claimed that incidents of mobile and chain snatching have increased in the area. NOFAA also raised concerns regarding the safety of women, including residents and female domestic workers who regularly travel between the mall and nearby residential societies. The organisation alleged that incidents of eve-teasing and harassment have contributed to a growing sense of insecurity among women using the stretch.
The federation emphasised that the area is densely populated and is also located close to two educational institutions, making safety and traffic management particularly important.
NOFAA seeks increased police patrolling
To address the concerns, NOFAA has requested the police to increase PCR and motorcycle patrolling along the stretch, particularly during evening hours and on weekends. The organisation has also sought adequate street lighting throughout the road section to address dark and vulnerable spots. In addition, NOFAA has urged authorities to take enforcement action against unauthorised parking and conduct checks regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol around the mall premises.
The representation called for prompt intervention to restore traffic movement, improve public safety and address security concerns raised by residents of the surrounding residential communities.
