The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is offering a Rs 1,000 FASTag reward to travellers who report unclean toilets at NHAI-managed toll plazas.

The initiative, called the ‘Clean Toilet Picture Challenge’, was launched in September 2025 and has now been extended until June 30, 2027, following a positive response from highway users. In 2026 so far, around 429 travellers have reported unhygienic toilets, with each eligible complainant receiving a Rs 1,000 FASTag recharge as a reward.

“Spot It. Report It. Get Rewarded. If you come across an unclean toilet at an NHAI-managed Toll Plaza, simply report it through the latest version of the Rajmargyatra App by uploading a clear, geo-tagged photograph along with your Name, Location, Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) and Mobile Number. Verified and eligible entries will receive a ₹1,000 FASTag credit,” the official handle of NHAI tweeted on Tuesday.

Report Dirty Toilets On Rajmargyatra App

The initiative is open to all travellers using national highways. To participate, users must upload a clear, geo-tagged and time-stamped photograph of an unclean toilet through the latest version of the Rajmargyatra mobile app. They must also provide basic details, including their name, location, vehicle registration number (VRN) and mobile number.

After the submitted photograph and details are verified through AI-assisted screening and manual checks, eligible entries will receive a Rs 1,000 FASTag credit linked to the vehicle registration number.

However, each VRN can receive the reward only once during the entire duration of the initiative. The reward is non-transferable and cannot be withdrawn as cash. If multiple complaints are submitted about the same toilet on the same day, only the first valid report received through the Rajmargyatra app will be considered.

The scheme applies only to toilets that are constructed, operated or maintained directly by NHAI. Toilets at petrol pumps, dhabas and other public locations are excluded as they do not fall under NHAI’s jurisdiction.
