Noida: The Confederation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (CONRWA) has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, highlighting the growing problem of improper vehicle parking in residential sectors across the city and seeking immediate corrective measures.

The residents’ body stated that unauthorised and haphazard parking has become a serious concern across almost all residential sectors in Noida. According to the memorandum, many residents park their vehicles in a manner that leaves a significant portion of the vehicle protruding onto roads, reducing the available road width and causing inconvenience to commuters.

Emergency vehicles face major challenges

CONRWA emphasised that the issue poses a serious threat during emergencies. Due to narrowed roads, ambulances and fire brigade vehicles often face difficulties entering residential sectors and reaching affected locations on time.

The association warned that delays in emergency response can increase the risk of loss of life and property. In several situations, such obstructions may prevent timely assistance, creating potentially dangerous consequences for residents.

Yellow line marking proposed for better parking management

To address the problem, CONRWA has suggested that the Noida Authority draw a clear yellow line along internal roads in all residential sectors. Residents should be required to park their vehicles strictly within the designated boundary. The association believes that such markings would help maintain road width and improve traffic movement within sectors.

Demand for heavy penalties and enforcement drives

CONRWA has also recommended strict enforcement measures against violators. It has proposed imposing heavy fines on vehicle owners whose vehicles extend beyond the yellow line or encroach upon public roads. The memorandum further calls for regular inspection drives and enforcement campaigns to ensure compliance and prevent the recurrence of parking violations.

Public safety must be Prioritised

The association cautioned that if the issue is not addressed promptly, it could become a much larger challenge in the future. It urged the Noida Authority to treat the matter as a public safety concern and take immediate action in the interest of residents and emergency preparedness. The memorandum was signed by CONRWA President Dr P.S. Jain, Convenor B.B. Valecha, General Secretary Rajeev Garg and Secretary Lokesh Kashyap. A copy of the representation has also been forwarded to the Police Commissioner of Gautam Budh Nagar with a request for coordinated action by the police department to curb parking violations in residential sectors.

“Every minute counts during an emergency. Improper parking can cost precious time and put lives at risk. The Noida Authority must take immediate steps to regulate parking and keep sector roads clear for emergency vehicles.”

Dr PS Jain, CONRWA
