The long-awaited Noida Metro Aqua Line extension project has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Railway Department. With this approval, the project’s progress has been further cleared, and the dream of metro connectivity in the region now seems closer than ever.
This project is proposed to connect Noida Sector-51 to Knowledge Park-5 in Greater Noida, aiming to provide improved public transport facilities to the rapidly developing Greater Noida West area.
What is the Aqua Line extension project?
Under the project proposed by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), the plan is to extend the existing Aqua Line from Sector-51 to Knowledge Park-5. This corridor will span approximately 17.4 kilometers and feature 11 proposed new stations.
Which areas will benefit?
The proposed metro expansion will significantly benefit the rapidly developing residential areas of Greater Noida West. There are plans to directly connect areas such as Sector-4, Sector-2, Sector-3, Sector-10, Sector-12, and Knowledge Park-5 to the metro network.
This will reduce the reliance of lakhs of daily commuters on road transport and make travel between Noida and Greater Noida more convenient.
Relief from traffic jams
Road traffic pressure in Greater Noida West is steadily rising due to the rapidly growing population. Long traffic jams are a daily occurrence on routes such as Gaur Chowk, Tigri Roundabout, and the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road.
