GNW : Greater Noida West is witnessing a renewed and intensified push for metro connectivity, as residents across the region unite to escalate their long-pending demand. In a significant development, a crucial meeting was held on Sunday, bringing together representatives from nearly 50 housing societies to chart the next phase of their movement.

The meeting was chaired by Abhishek Kumar, president of the NEFOWA, who underscored the frustration among residents.

Over a decade, people in Greater Noida West have received repeated assurances regarding metro connectivity, but no concrete progress has materialised on the ground.

Announcing the next course of action, Kumar revealed that a large-scale protest will be held on April 26 at Jantar Mantar. Thousands of residents are expected to participate in the demonstration, aimed at drawing urgent attention from the government and relevant authorities toward the pressing issue.

Residents present at the meeting collectively resolved to mobilise maximum participation from their respective societies. The focus is now on ensuring a strong turnout at the protest, signalling the growing unity and determination among the community.

This comes shortly after a symbolic protest held last week, where residents staged a “metro pillar pulling” demonstration. The act received widespread support across Greater Noida West and was seen as a turning point in the movement. It highlighted the readiness of residents to organise and assert their demands more forcefully.

For many residents, the lack of metro connectivity continues to translate into daily struggles, including severe traffic congestion, long commute hours and overall inconvenience. With no tangible progress despite years of appeals, the sentiment on the ground has shifted from patience to urgency.

The developments following this meeting indicate that the demand for metro connectivity in Greater Noida West has now evolved into a full-fledged mass movement, one that is likely to gain further momentum in the coming days.
