The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced plans to operate around 2,000 special bus services from Bengaluru to several districts across the state to manage the surge in travel expected during the Ugadi and Ramzan festival period.

The additional services will run between 19 March and 21 March, allowing passengers to travel from Bengaluru to their hometowns and other destinations for the celebrations. To support passengers returning after the holidays, KSRTC will also operate extra return buses to Bengaluru on 22 March, 2026.

Festival periods often see a sharp increase in passenger movement, particularly from Bengaluru, where many residents travel to different parts of Karnataka to celebrate with their families. In response, KSRTC has arranged the special services to ensure that travellers can reach their destinations more easily.

The buses will connect Bengaluru with several key cities and towns across the state. Major destinations include Mysuru, Mangaluru, Dharmasthala, Kundapura, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi and Kalaburagi, along with other important locations.

Transport officials expect heavy demand during the festive period and have advised passengers to book their tickets in advance whenever possible. Advance booking allows travellers to secure seats and avoid last-minute difficulties during the busy travel days.

Tickets for the special buses can be booked online through the official KSRTC website, making the process more convenient for passengers planning their journeys. The online system also helps the transport corporation manage demand more effectively by monitoring bookings and travel patterns.

KSRTC has also stated that additional buses may be deployed if passenger demand increases further. This flexibility will help the corporation respond quickly if more travellers require transport during the festival period.

To encourage group travel, KSRTC has introduced a special discount scheme. Passengers who book tickets in advance for three or four people together will receive a 10 percent discount on the ticket fare. The offer is expected to benefit families and small groups travelling together for the celebrations.

With the festive season approaching, the transport corporation aims to ensure smoother travel for thousands of passengers leaving Bengaluru for different parts of the state. The large number of special buses and flexible arrangements are intended to reduce congestion and make festival travel more convenient for the public.
