New Delhi: A grand Baba Vidyapati Smriti Parv was organised by the Mithilanchal Purvanchal Puja Samiti, Vasundhara Enclave, Darul Pura, Delhi, celebrating the literary and spiritual legacy of the revered poet-saint Baba Vidyapati.
The event was attended by the esteemed Shailendra Mishra, President of the International Maithili Parishad, who was present as a distinguished guest. He paid floral tribute to Baba Vidyapati by offering pushpanjali before his portrait and bowed in reverence.

A tribute to cultural and devotional heritage
The programme, dedicated to the memory of Baba Vidyapati, symbolised the rich cultural heritage and devotional traditions of Mithila. Known as a great poet and devotee, Vidyapati’s literature continues to inspire generations with messages of love, devotion and social harmony. Speakers at the event emphasised that his writings remain relevant in contemporary times, strengthening cultural identity and spiritual consciousness among the Maithili community.

Felicitation ceremony
On this occasion, the Samiti President, Indra Dev Mishra, and General Secretary, Vikas Jha, along with their entire team, felicitated Shailendra Mishra for his contributions to promoting the Maithili language and culture. Expressing gratitude, Mishra shared that while the recognition brought immense happiness, the journey ahead remains challenging and requires continued guidance and collective effort from the community.
Cultural performances enthral the audience
The evening came alive with vibrant Maithili cultural performances. Artists including Pooja Mishra, Soni Chaudhary, Manish Mishra, Sanjeet Jha and Nikhil Mahadev presented soulful renditions reflecting the essence of Mithila. Dance performances by Tanisk Jha added grace to the programme, while the event was skillfully anchored by Anuj Rajiv Jha. The atmosphere resonated with cultural pride, as the entire venue echoed with the spirit of “Mithila May” in the heart of Delhi.
A collective effort
