Greater Noida West: A major dispute has erupted between residents and the builder management at Eros Samptornam Society in Greater Noida West, over a recent hike in maintenance charges. The situation escalated after essential services were allegedly suspended, prompting angry residents to take to the streets in protest. Following the unrest, the Greater Noida Authority has stepped in to facilitate a resolution.

Authority Schedules Joint Meeting

Officials of the Greater Noida Authority have scheduled a joint meeting of resident representatives and the builder management on Wednesday, January 21, to address the issue. The authority has stated that a rule-based and mutually acceptable solution will be explored after hearing from both sides.

Residents Allege Withdrawal of Basic Services

Residents allege that the builder management failed to provide even basic amenities while simultaneously increasing maintenance charges. According to them, maintenance services were stopped from January 16, leading to power supply being cut in several towers on Friday. Enraged residents staged a late-night road blockade to protest the disruption.

Power Supply Through DG at High Cost

After the protest, electricity supply was restored through diesel generators (DG) around 10 pm and continued until approximately 10 am the next day, after which normal power supply resumed. Residents have alleged that they were charged ₹27 per unit for DG power, significantly increasing their financial burden. Several families reportedly incurred additional expenses due to nearly 12 hours of DG usage.

Security and Housekeeping Concerns

Serious concerns have also been raised regarding safety and hygiene within society. Residents claim that since Friday, no security personnel have been deployed in any of the towers, posing a major security risk. Housekeeping services have also been suspended, resulting in unhygienic conditions across multiple areas of the complex.

Complaints Filed With Police and Administration

Residents have lodged a formal complaint against the builder management at Bisrakh police station and have also approached the District Magistrate’s office. Following these complaints, the Greater Noida Authority issued a notice to the builder. Subsequently, the builder management informed residents that essential services would be maintained until January 21.

AOA Demands Administrative Intervention

Residents have sought the District Magistrate’s intervention to curb alleged arbitrary actions by the builder. He accused the builder of neither maintaining the society properly nor initiating the formal handover process, causing persistent difficulties for residents.
