Two autos collided on a busy road after one suddenly entered traffic without checking the rear-view mirror, causing the second auto to topple and hit a passing scooter.

A CCTV clip from Kozhikode, Kerala, has drawn attention after it showed a sudden road accident involving two auto-rickshaws and a scooter. The footage captures how a regular day on a busy street quickly turned chaotic due to a moment of carelessness. The incident has sparked discussion online about road safety, rear-view mirror use, and defensive driving, with many users sharing strong opinions after watching how the crash unfolded.
The video was recorded on a wide road lined with shops, where traffic was moving at a steady pace. Cars, bikes, and autos can be seen passing through as pedestrians walk along the sides of the road.
What The CCTV Footage Shows
The clip begins with a normal street scene in Kozhikode. Two-wheelers move smoothly in one lane, while autos and cars pass by in the other. A green auto is seen at the side of the road, appearing ready to enter traffic.
As the auto begins to move forward, the driver does not seem to check the rear-view mirrors. At the same time, another auto comes from behind at a fairly high speed. Within seconds, the second auto crashes into the first.
Auto Loses Balance And Hits Scooter Rider
The impact causes the second auto to lose balance. With only three wheels and high speed, it tilts and moves out of control. The auto then crashes into a scooter coming from the opposite side.
The scooter rider and pillion were not wearing helmets. The rider is thrown off balance as the auto hits them, and both fall onto the road. The scene turns chaotic as vehicles slow down and people nearby realise the seriousness of the accident.
Locals Rush In To Help
Seeing the crash, people from nearby shops and pedestrians run toward the injured. Several men work together to lift the overturned auto back onto its wheels. Others help the scooter rider and move him away from the middle of the road.
By the end of the clip, the injured person is shifted to the side of the street. A large crowd gathers, traffic comes to a halt, and the road remains blocked as people focus on helping those hurt.
Shared on December 29, the video has crossed 53,000 views. A user wrote, “First auto could have just continued straight after starting.” Another said, “No fault of scooty rider but if we’re learning defensive driving, we must observe the developing scene ahead and relatively compare our position for safety.”
A person commented, “Sudden turn by Auto is the default behaviour. If you see a parked auto in 100 meters in front, slow down or stop.” Another user added, “I always honk when I pass through the stopped vehicle with brake lights on… many times escaped narrowly hitting an auto.”
“How sad. The real culprit auto, isn’t damaged, but the other auto and the biker, especially, are badly injured,” a person wrote.
