Greater Noida: Residents of Sector Beta-1 have submitted a formal complaint to the ACEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority regarding the dangerous and unsightly practice of internet and electric cables being tied openly from pole to pole and even around trees.
According to the complaint, cables belonging to various services, including internet lines, street-light connections, D2H TV, Jio, Airtel and multiple Wi-Fi operators, are hanging in the open, violating the basic norms of urban infrastructure management. Residents point out that Greater Noida has clear provisions mandating underground cabling, yet several companies continue to use overhead wiring without adherence to guidelines.
They allege that the commercial division of GNIDA may have issued permissions to these companies, but the concerned department has failed to enforce proper installation standards. Locals fear that if such negligence continues, the aesthetic and planned character of Greater Noida could deteriorate, making it resemble cities like Ghaziabad, Dadri, and parts of Delhi, where overhead cabling is a major urban issue.
The residents’ group has appealed to the CEO and ACEO to take strict action against all companies responsible for tying cables openly on poles and trees.
