Greater Noida: In a tragic incident, two cousins lost their lives after falling from the 27th floor of an under-construction high-rise in Sector-25, under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. The mishap occurred late Saturday night while the two were working at the construction site.
The deceased, Aamir (19) and Sohail (22), originally from the Masuri area of Ghaziabad, were engaged in UPVC glass installation work at the F Premier Homes & Soul project. According to initial reports, a sudden power outage at the site led to complete darkness. In the absence of lighting and adequate safety measures, the two lost their balance and fell to the ground.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared them dead.
Following the incident, the victims’ family members and local farmer groups reached the site and alleged gross negligence by the builder. They claimed that there were no adequate safety arrangements in place at such a high-risk working zone. A protest broke out at the site, with demands for financial compensation and strict action against the builder.
Police from the Dankaur police station arrived at the scene, calmed the agitated crowd, and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Officials stated that no formal complaint has been registered yet, but assured that proper legal action will be taken once a complaint is filed.
The incident has raised serious concerns over construction site safety in Greater Noida, where several similar incidents have been reported in recent months. Authorities are being urged to conduct safety audits and enforce stricter compliance from builders to prevent further loss of life.
