Noida: In Sector-78’s Sikka Karmic Greens Society, now even bachelors (singles) will be allowed to rent flats. After media intervention, the builder removed the board that had prohibited renting to bachelors.
A board outside the society read: Flats will not be rented to bachelors. This created resentment among tenants and led to legal concerns. Following the news report, the builder has now taken the board down.
The builder clarified that the board was put up for temporary caution after a recent incident involving some tenants. The builder stated they have no issues with flats being rented to bachelors, but tenants must follow all rules and regulations, including police verification.
The Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Association (NOFAA) also said that a builder cannot make such a rule that violates the rights of flat owners. Owners have the right to rent their flats to anyone, whether families or bachelors, as long as all legal norms are followed.
The Police verification rule should be followed by everyone
A few days ago, the society management had placed a board at the entrance saying flats could not be rented to bachelors. This led to much outrage, and after media coverage, the builder removed the board.
Noida HighRise Federation (NHRF) has strongly supported the rights of bachelor tenants, stating that simply banning their entry is not a viable solution. The federation emphasized the need for fair housing practices and proper tenant verification instead of blanket restrictions
“I firmly believe that banning bachelors from renting in our society is not a solution. Every flat owner has the right to choose their tenant. Builders should not enforce such restrictive policies. Instead, the focus should be on proper police verification and background checks for all tenants, regardless of marital status. Let’s work towards a fair, inclusive, and secure living environment for everyone.”
