Greater Noida West : A family was stuck in the lift for one and a half hours in Panchsheel Heights Society located in Greater Noida West. There was no use in sounding the alarm inside the lift. As soon as the tower residents came to know, the society maintenance team was informed. The society maintenance team could not open the lift gate. As soon as the lift technician of neighbouring society Supertech Ecovillage-1 reached, he opened the lift door and took the family out. The woman’s health deteriorated due to heat and panic.
‘Seema and Sneha were stuck in the lift for about an hour and a quarter’
Mani Kant Gupta, resident of flat number 1202 of Tower-2, informs Apartment Times, “On June 20, 2024, Thursday at 7.50 pm, his wife Seema Gupta and daughter Sneha Gupta were going down from the 12th floor from the lift. The lift reached down but the lift door did not open. Seema and Sneha were stuck in the lift for about an hour and a quarter. The lift family rang the alarm button from inside the lift but did not get any help. They started shouting from inside the lift and banging on the lift door so that if someone was passing by, they could come to help. Hearing the shouts, the tower residents came and informed the society’s maintenance team about the incident. Meanwhile, the tower residents kept trying to open the lift door but did not succeed.”
Maintenance efforts prooved futile
The maintenance team tried a lot to open the lift door but the lift door did not open. Tired of this, help was sought from the neighbouring society Supertech Ecovillage-1. The technician who arrived at Panchsheel from Supertech Ecovillage-1 opened the lift door in one go and took the family out.
Anger among the residents
After the incident, the society residents are very angry with the society’s management. Residents said that a day before, the company’s engineer had checked the lift and said that almost all the lift locks were getting damaged. He had gone and asked to get the AMC done as soon as possible or get it repaired on a charge basis. Residents said that a few days ago the society’s AOA had shared a screenshot of inviting quotations for the AMC of the lift, but till now there is no information about the AMC of the lift being given nor has any document related to AMC been shared with the residents.
Where is the lift act?
Residents have a question for the government why are the incidents of lifts getting stuck not decreasing even after the passing of the Lift Act in the state, why does the administration not take strict action?
