Dinkar Pandey, Resident informed Apartment Times, “In Tower B-1, a domestic help boarded the lift from the basement to go to work in the flat. The lift had barely moved up when it got stuck. Society maintenance staff opened the lift door and took her out after about 10 minutes. The second incident happened at 4 pm in which four people from the same family boarded the lift to go up from the ground floor, as soon as the lift went up a little, it got stuck between two floors. Neither was it going up nor down. After about 15 minutes, the maintenance team reached the spot and took the people out by placing chairs inside the lift.”
Nefowa, the organisation that stands with the residents’ rights complained to the CM of Uttar Pradesh on social media Which states –
“Lift accidents have suddenly increased, every day there are reports of lift breakdown from some society or the other. Hardly a day passes when there is no news of someone getting stuck in the lift. Why is the administration not getting the audit of lifts done in all the multi-story buildings in Greater Noida West and why is it not able to ensure whether the maintenance of the lift is being done properly or not so that such accidents can be curbed. What is the administration waiting for even after the Lift Act has been passed? Why is the responsibility not being fixed?”
