Ghaziabad: Three arrested for cheating man of ₹70 lakh in online share trading scam

Three men who allegedly defrauded a Raj Nagar Extension resident of ₹70 lakh in an online share trading scam were taken into custody by the Ghaziabad police on Wednesday, according to senior police officers. They also revealed that they have information about the gang’s involvement in approximately 32 fraud cases that have been reported in various cities throughout the nation.

Police are holding three suspects. The suspects would collect one percent of the money they amassed from tricking individuals, according to the officials. The police have retrieved around ₹29.57 lakh of the money that Singh lost.

The suspects, identified by the police as 40-year-old Ravi Sharma, 38-year-old Sushil Sharma, and 38-year-old Bhanu Raghav, were taken into custody late on Tuesday night in Masuri, Ghaziabad.

Kushal Pal Singh, the victim, was allegedly conned out of roughly ₹70 lakh between March 13 and April 3 of this year, according to the police. On April 23, Singh went to the police and, at the Nandgram police station, a FIR was registered.

“The cyber cell looked into the situation. After following several connected accounts to which the Singh family’s funds were moved, we discovered one account to which ₹50,000 had been sent. After looking through the account details, we discovered that it had approximately ₹6.5 crore. We believe that the source of this money was one of the thirty-two fraud incidents that were reported throughout ten states. The auxiliary deputy commissioner of police (crime), Sacchidanand, stated, “We are receiving details of all these cases.”

According to the authorities, Singh was looking through links on the internet for share trading investment plans when he came across gang members who connected him to two separate WhatsApp groups.

Additionally, they forced him to make regular investments using two other applications, and they moved his money across ten different accounts. Even if he was unable to withdraw the money, this app would indicate that his investment was growing. It was this way that Singh lost ₹70 lakh. Additionally, the group opened current accounts in the names of false businesses, and they gave the details of these accounts to a fraudster abroad. Through an OTP forwarder app, the person would be able to access these accounts, according to Sacchidanand.

The suspects would collect one percent of the money they amassed from tricking individuals, according to the officials. About ₹29.57 lakh of the money that Singh lost has been recovered.

According to the authorities, there are still a number of gang members, and an investigation is being conducted to find other suspects.
