
Noida: Marking the 78th anniversary of Independence, Noida Shaheed Smarak Sanstha honoured the next of kin of 42 martyrs of Gautam Budh Nagar by inviting them to pay floral tribute at Shaheed Smarak, Sector 29, (opposite Army Public School, Sector 37). It is the only, tri-service memorial in our country dedicated to the Nation by then three Service chiefs on 13 April 2002.

The National Flag and our defence forces’ flags were fluttering majestically in the background adding to the great ambience of the memorial.
To keep the camaraderie alive, families of martyrs, Veterans and common men of Gautam Budh Nagar, paid homage to their 42 gallant martyrs.

Lt Gen GL Bakshi, PVSM, (Retired), Chairman of Sanstha, laid the first wreath on the base of the cenotaph. After that, the families of martyrs, Squadron Leader I H Naqvi; Maj Udai Singh, Surya Chakra, Sena Medal; Major A Nauriyal, Kirti Chakra; Captain Vijayant Thapar, Vir Chakra; Captain Shashi Kant Sharma, Sena Medal and Captain Varun Chibber paid homage. Lt Generals SK Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, Executive Director of Sanstha; Surinder Verma, PVSM; YP Khurana, PVSM; Maj Gen DK Sen, AVSM; Brigadier Arun Bali, Colonels Shashi Vaid, OP Mehta, IP Singh, Subash Sharma, Venish Rai, Sanjay Kharbanda, Mahendra Kumar, Ravi, Commander Narinder Mahajan; (All Retired), members of the executive committee of Sanstha; Mrs Neogi, Principal, Army Public School, with her staff; Mrs Anita, and citizens of Gautam Budh Nagar, paid floral tribute.
Sweets were distributed to the dedicated staff who maintain the beautiful Memorial.
