According to Ayurveda, brain health depends on eating a “Sattvic” diet, which is composed of foods that are natural, pure, and high in nutrients. In order to maintain mental clarity, ancient Indians preferred diets like nuts, seeds, milk, fresh produce, full grains, and ghee. In particular, ghee (clarified butter), which is frequently used in cooking or consumed with herbs, is recognized in Ayurveda as nourishing the brain and nervous system.
Over time, sattvic foods are supposed to improve cognitive performance by maintaining a balanced, alert, and peaceful mind. Because of their abundance in vital fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals that are critical for brain function, several of these foods are now known as “brain foods.”
