In view of the decision made by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided not to hold the previously scheduled merit test.
The decision was taken by the department, keeping in mind the convenience of the students given the paucity of time. The selection will be done based on a merit list prepared considering the marks obtained by the candidate in classes VIII and X, as per the guidelines of the scheme.
The official notification states:
“Keeping in view the paucity of time for the test, the Department has reconsidered the matter. It has been decided that instead of the Entrance Test (which will entail extra burden on the applicants), the selection for this year will now be done on the basis of the merit to be prepared considering the marks obtained in the class VIII & X, as applicable, as per scheme guidelines.”
The awardees will be chosen using the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). All students who received 60% or higher in their eighth or tenth classes are eligible to apply through the NSP site – www.scholarships.gov.in. Details instructions on the registration process are awaited.
