Swimming pools: Back-to-back complaints from residents, the Administration team inspected health hazards caused by swimming pools and gyms, levied fines

Greater Noida West: As the summer is in its full fervour, the swimming pools and gyms are fully crowded with elderlies, adults and small kids. With this comes the risk to health if they are not properly cleaned and other protocols not followed. The Health Department was getting continuous complaints following which the administration took action. On the instructions of District Officer, GBN, Sports Officer Anita Nagar inspected the swimming pools and gyms running in many societies of Greater Noida West.

Societies have been warned to follow the safety and health protocols

Many societies have been warned and instructed to correct the deficiencies within 3 days. In Ajnara, the swimming pool has been closed permanently. In many societies, instructions have been given to temporarily close gyms due to a lack of certificate. At the same time, Manish Kumar Verma, District Magistrate Gautam Buddha Nagar gave instructions to inspect the swimming pools of other societies built in Greater Noida West.

Surprise visit to inspect various gyms and swimming pools

Anita Nagar, District Sports Officer says, “On the instructions of District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, a surprise inspection of many societies of Gautam Buddha Nagar was conducted on 10th May. Many societies were warned and instructed to complete the deficiencies in swimming pools and gyms within 3 days. In many societies, gyms were found without a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Negligence of the lifeguard system found

Negligence of UFT company has been seen in many societies. The lifeguards deployed by the company at the swimming pool have been found to be unlicensed. The swimming pools of many societies including Green Arch, Cherry County, French Apartment, Ajnara and Fusion Home Society of Greater Noida West were inspected by the Sports Officer.

NO NOC by administration

During the inspection, the gyms of Amrapali, Ajnara Homes, Health Solution and Great Fitness Gym in Greater Noida West were also inspected. NOC was not given by the administration in the gyms being operated in these societies.

A fine of 5000 Rs levied

During the inspection, gyms in all these societies were temporarily closed and a fine of Rs 5,000 each was imposed. Anita Nagar says, “All those operating these gyms have been instructed to complete all the formalities and deposit the fine in the next two days.”
