Greater Noida: Dr Rajendra Singh, famous as ‘Water Man’ and ‘Waterman of India’, arrived as the chief guest at the “Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition” organized at Galgotias University. On this occasion, he emphasized the importance of water and said, “Water is our life and the creator of this entire universe. Therefore, always use water in a virtuous manner.”
Who is Dr. Rajendra Singh?
Dr. Rajendra Singh was born on 6 August 1959 in Dola village of Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. He is a famous river rejuvenator and environmentalist. He has obtained a bachelor’s degree in Ayurveda and a master’s degree in Hindi literature. He has received many honorary doctorate degrees and awards for his contribution. These include honorary doctorates from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad in 2014, Poornima University, Jaipur in 2016 and APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Lucknow in 2019.
Also received the “Ahimsa” award
Dr. Rajendra Singh has received prestigious awards like the Indira Gandhi Environment Award in 1994 and the Raman Magsaysay Award in 2001. In the year 2015, he received the Stockholm Water Prize and the “Ahimsa” Award from the House of Commons of the United Kingdom in 2018. Apart from this, in 2019, he also received the “Earth Repair” Award from Seattle and the Prithvi Bhushan Award in New Delhi.
Told the students the value of life
In his address at Galgotias University, Dr Rajendra Singh says, “Water conservation is our first responsibility in today’s modern world. If we do not find a solution to this problem in time, future generations will never forgive us.” He appealed to the youth to play an active role in water conservation and come forward to solve water problems.
Also criticised Macaulay’s education policy
Dr. Rajendra Singh also criticized Macaulay’s education policy, which he called a conspiracy to enslave us. He mentioned that nature and its elements were worshipped in the ancient education system of India, and similar things because of which India became Vishwa Guru.
We have to walk with nature: Dhruv Galgotia
Dr. Dhruv Galgotias, CEO of Galgotia University, also appealed to the youth to play an active role in the conservation and promotion of nature. He said that today we have to walk together with nature, otherwise our existence will be in danger.
